We are fonio.ai – a Vienna-based startup. We build AI phone agents capable of independently handling calls. They sound just like a real person. So far, over 1,300 businesses rely on our technology every day. Now, we’re taking the next big step: launching in Italy. For this, we’re looking for an experienced Country Manager.
Your Role
As Country Manager for Italy, you will take full responsibility for building our presence in the Italian market—both strategically and operationally. You’ll manage our first customers, establish sales, set up partnerships, and organize local support. You’ll work closely with our founders and the core team in Vienna.
Important: You won’t be left alone to fill the pipeline. We will actively support the market entry with dedicated marketing campaigns—meaning there will be very limited to no cold outreach required.
In the medium-term, the goal is to establish a local team in Italy to serve and grow the market.
This role can be based at our HQ in Vienna or fully remote/on site in Italy.
Your Responsibilities
- Execute Market Entry: Develop and implement a clear go-to-market plan for Italy, from first customer contact to building scalable structures.
- Build Sales & Partnerships: Identify target customers, engage them (mostly inbound), and develop relevant partnerships.
- Organize Local Support: Ensure our Italian customers receive excellent support—whether by yourself, through AI, or by growing a local team.
- Drive Growth: Own your metrics and hit defined milestones (e.g., first paying customers in Q1, local team setup by Q2).
- Work Closely with the Team: Be a key part of our core team, collaborating with Product, Marketing, and Support.
What We’re Looking For
- Native or fluent Italian (min. C1), plus excellent English. German would be a Plus (not required)
- Proven experience building a market or startup—ideally in B2B SaaS.
- Solid background in sales, business development, or partner management.
- Strategic mindset and strong execution—you can both plan and deliver.
- Ownership mentality, drive, and clear communication.
What We Offer
- Salary: €80,000–120,000 gross/year, depending on experience.
- Location: Work on-site in Vienna (7th district) at least 3 days per week, or remote/on site in Italy.
